FAMILY BOX in Beijing is an education center for early childhood, located in residential area of Central Business District in Beijing. SAKO architects have created a unique playful educational environment designed to enrich the imaginations of children.
Public part of the center is spread across three levels of the building. The ground floor contains main entrance and three pools for children. Second and third floors have 15 separate class and activity rooms including a supermarket, a kitchen, a cafeteria, a music room, a dance room, and an indoor athletic and play area. At the center of the plan is double-height atrium.
Twelve randomly placed colored cylinders divide the space, defining different zones and their activities. The various free form curved openings, and the inclined nature of the walls gives space a beautiful designed playful atmosphere. Whole interior is based on white color and warm lighting due to featuring each cheerful colored theme of rooms. Corridors between cylinders are the spaces where children can see various inclined walls.
The center have optimal educational environment where children can enjoy in a great variety of activities and enrich their imaginations. The variety of spaces creates a joyful and pleasant area where the curiosity of children is stimulated in every step.
