The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) opened the doors at the new Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care on 27 July.
This hospital is designed by the Connecticut-based firm Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects with FKP Architects acting as the Architect of Record.
The new Children’s Hospital (worth $650 million) is neat to the main hospital in Philadelphia located on a landscaped three-acre parcel.
This facility have unique shape of 700,000 square-foot with curved facade and 12 stories of undulating glass, highlighted with exuberant pops of color. The main objective in the architectural approach is providing positive energy and wealth of pleasant shapes and colors for the 200,000 young patients.
A relaxing 14,000-square-foot garden which is located on the six-story, with shade arbors, a fountain and water channel, a play area and a running path, is affording space for recreation as well as rehabilitation sessions.
