Herzog Bar is located in hart of Munich, in historical building with few changes made in past. This space is adopted to periodical ideologies, with clear forms according it function. One of biggest challenge for every architect is working with a revered heritage listed building, but at same time to respect it on one side and on other side to try to meet high standard and quality of gastronomy spaces, which are modern.
Reinterpreting old terrazzo floor and strong materials used in public buildings from the past, architect used textured concrete and Brass. Brass stripe profiles escort visitors though gastronomical landscape such as restaurant, lounge and bar. These stripes are joined between them beyond bar, but then they are spread and forming lighting elements illuminating total space .The building’s main structural elements are detached from the exterior embraces, and as a result the columns and ceiling were painted umbra-black, an approach practiced originally by Le Corbusier.
