About 60 km south of Berlin is a former Soviet airfield where exists an old airship hangar. With over 66,000 m² of floor space, the idea was to create a self-contained holiday destination in the center of Europe.
In December 2004, the Tropical Islands resort opened its massive hangar doors to the public.
At the Tropical Islands resort the temperature is always 26°C and it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It have 66,000 m² of floor space, 360 m long, 210 m wide, 107 m high and at once 6,000 people can be accommodated in the dome.
With a surface area of 10,000 m² the indoor rainforest is made up of over 50,000 plants, including palms, ferns and mangroves.

Water world
The Tropical Sea covers an area of 3,000 sq. m, three times the size of an Olympic swimming pool. The water has a constant temperature of 28°C and there’s a sandy beach.
The Lagoon has a constant temperature of 32°C.
Tropical Islands is home to Germany’s highest water slide tower. With 27 meters, there are four different slides.
Accommodations Inside the Dome
6,000 people can be accommodated in the dome at any one time in rooms, lodges and in two and four bed rooms. There is also two-bed Adventure and Premium Lodges, tents in the dome equipped with bed frames and mattresses in the Rainforest, Sunset Camp with beds in tents with two and four beds.

The Tropical Sauna and Spa Complex
It has 10,000 m³ total area, with 7 different sauna attractions, hot tubs with a water temperature of 32°C, Meditation rooms, stone sauna with various kinds of showers , jungle huts with a tree sauna, a blossom steam bath, an herbal sweat lodge and an ice fountain and mud bath spa, salt grotto and rock showe.
